Indians demand zero tolerance against crimes against women.
The Youth and the common man organise protests in New Delhi against the indifferent and insensitive attitude of the Government of India. However peaceful protesters taking brunt of baton charge!
Thousands of people, outraged by last Sunday night’s horrifying gang-rape of a young woman in the national capital New Delhi, took to the streets across the country. The youth gathered in huge numbers at India Gate & Raisina Hill to protest the callous indifference of the Political class and Police in general across the country towards increasing crimes against women. Teenage kids, parents and people from all parts of life have participated in this protest to show solidarity with the victims and oppose the Government’s atrocities towards women.
They are asking one simple Question: Why? And are seeking a straight forward answer regarding the steps being taken to ensure women are safe in India.
The protest doesn’t have any political leanings it’s just the frustrations of the common man in India. Yet, no leader had the courage to reach out to them. Where are the Prime Minister Mr. Manmohan Singh, the President of India Mr.Pranab Mukherjee, the President of the ruling Congress Party Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, the Chief Minister of Delhi Mrs. Sheila Dikshit, the Home Minister Mr. Sushil Kumar Shinde? Why are they indifferent and insensitive to the problems of the common man?
Doctors treating the 23-year-old Delhi gang rape victim, who was beaten mercilessly, raped and thrown out of a moving bus in New Delhi, said her condition was still critical but responding to treatment. New Delhi which is also called the Rape Capital of India has the highest number of reported sex crimes among Indian cities. As per the official figures, a rape is reported on average every 18 hours. Most sexual assaults go unreported but the numbers getting reported are also alarming. The brutality of last week’s crime triggered the biggest protests in the capital city of India since mid-2011 demonstrations against corruption that rocked the government of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
But instead of engaging the protesters the Government of India decided to crush the protest with brute force. The protesters were subjected to Lathi Charge, Water Cannons, Tear Gas and brutal force to evacuate the India Gate area. Mr. Manmohan Singh, it’s time to wake up and curb atrocities against women across the country. And start with Vijay Chowk and Raisina Hill in New Delhi. Please stop being insensitive to the problems of the common man.
Why use Lathi charge, tear gas and water cannons against innocent protesters? Why can’t they be allowed to protest in peace? Where is India headed?
Is it a crime to protest for Zero tolerance against crimes against women in India?
Please take a cue from the ancient wisdom of the Indian civilisation and stand up for respecting women.
